The inspiring opera impresario and designer Adam Pollock was a great long-term friend of Maria Bjornson’s. He put together the spectacular celebration of Maria’s life and work at Her Majesty’s Theatre after her death.
Pollock is best known as the owner and founder of The Batignano Opera Festival in Tuscany, an astonishing annual event which brought together up-and-coming and established operatic talent, including, for many years, Maria Bjornson herself, she designed a remarkable Don Giovanni for the festival in 1994. Pollock’s memoir A Heap Of Stones published by Brown Dog Books in February 2020 is the story of Pollock’s life, the festival and its charming home. It is a delightfully written record of a creative era and includes anecdotes and information about Maria Bjornson and her work.
